Scanjet 5490c ADF reports erroneous paper jams     

Scanjet 5490c and the flatbed scan works fine. The ADF will recognize there is a document present to be scanned, but reports a paper jam every time when you try to continue. It does not even attempt to feed the paper through. you have tried shutting off power and re-cycling through the process, but still no success.
